CCI Exchange, a non-profit organization which sponsors cultural exchanges, service projects, and fair trade initiatives is currently seeking volunteer host families in the Media area (ideally within a 15-minute drive of Granite Run Mall) for a group of Spanish teens, aged 13-17.
The Spanish students (both male and female) have scheduled activities on weekdays (ESL classes and excursions), and then have evenings and weekends free to spend with your family experiencing everyday American family life.
Host families need only provide transportation in the morning and evening to a meeting place near the Granite Run Mall (carpooling is possible if needed), meals, a place to sleep, and most importantly, a place in your heart!
If you've ever considered hosting an exchange student, but were afraid of a long commitment, or would love for your family to experience a bit of Spanish culture, this is a wonderful opportunity!
If you don't have a spare bedroom, that's OK - the student can share with a same-sex host sibling as long as he/she has their own bed. While families who can host the entire four weeks are given first priority, hosting for a portion of the month is also an option. Families are welcome to take their students with them if they are away for short periods (e.g. weekends at the shore), or arrangements can be made if you're unavailable for a few days. Hosts need not have children at home - it's also a wonderful experience for those without children or empty nesters who are missing a bit of the noise that comes with having a teenager in the house!
As the summer is rapidly approaching, host families need to be identified as soon as possible.
