2011 Crime Stats For Delaware County Community College

Delaware County Community College publishes their most recent annual Campus Security Report.

MARPLE TWP.–Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located in Marple Township, recently released their crime statistics for 2011. The college publishes their yearly crime statistics annually. The Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act, enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1990 (Act 20 U.S.C. 1092), requires each institution of higher education to prepare, publish and distribute to all students and employees an annual security report by October 1 of each year, according to the college.

Overall, the crime statistics for Part 1 Offenses in 2011 have decreased since 2010. Part 2 Offenses generally stayed the same since 2010 but the number of disorderly conduct increased over the past four years.

View the chart below for a four-year comparison of the college's crime statistics of incidents reported.

Two things that I would like to know 1) if required by law to be published by October 1 of each year, WHY did it take 5 weeks for it to get out here to us? and 2) how many of this year's 50 incidents resulted in the perpetrators no longer being associated with the college as students, employees or just plain trespassers?

I don't know that I can answer your second question but I can help in answering the first. The school did release the numbers weeks ago, however, I had to bump the story several times due to Hurricane Sandy and Election coverage, which is why it is appearing now. Marple Newtown Patch originally ran this story on Oct. 24. I hope this helps with your concerns.
