28 Municipalities to Attend Animal Control Board Meeting

Media, Middletown and Upper Providence are set to attend Saturday's meeting.

The Animal Control Board has invited Delaware County's 49 municipalities to a second meeting regarding a new animal control contract on Saturday. The municipalities have been slow to respond to the signing of this contract.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports that 28 municipalities are set to attend Saturday's meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. at Delaware County Community College.

Media Borough and Middletown and Upper Providence townships are among the current attendees, however, Edgmont is not currently listed, according to the Times.

The Delaware County SPCA will stop taking stray animals from municipalities, with the goal of becoming a no-kill shelter, on Dec. 31 and the newly formed Animal Control Board has asked the county municipalities to sign a three-year, $250-per-animal contract as they build a new facility in Darby Township.
