Coroner: Man Found Burning in Park Committed Suicide

The manner of death of the body found ablaze in an Upper Providence park Monday was ruled a suicide.

The Delaware County Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death of the body found in an Upper Providence park to be a suicide. 

Dalyn D. Bristol, 32, of Media, was on Lincoln and Jackson streets at about 1:30 p.m. Monday by Media Borough employees who were doing hurricane clean up. 

Bristol was actively burning when emergency crews arrived, Sgt. Michael Langdale said.

Bristol, who was divorced, suffered soot and smoke inhalation and extensive thermal burns, according to Delaware County Medical Examiner Dr. Fredric Hellman. 

Langdale said no note or anything explaining the suicide was found in the park or near Bristol.

The body was found laying on the grass and identification was found nearby. 

He was pronounced to be dead at 1:35 p.m. Monday at the park. 

Houtman Park, at 90 W. Lincoln Street, is used mostly for dog walking or jogging and is not a large park or playground. Media Borough owns the park but it is policed by Upper Providence Township.
