Dining Under the Stars Kicks Off 5th Season

Media Borough’s popular outdoor dining event starts its 2012 season on Wednesday.

Dining Under the Stars kicks off it's fifth season this Wednesday.

Media Borough will host the al fresco dining event every Wednesday, from May 2 through Sept. 26. Between the hours of 5 and 11 p.m., traffic is blocked off of State Street, from Jackson to Orange streets, and diners line the streets instead.

Restaurants along State Street offer outdoor seating which extends out into the actual street, and with the newly opened Spasso, Diego's and Desert Rose, surely no one will leave hungry.

Although Desert Rose is located on the "other" side of Orange Street, which won't be closed to traffic, owner Jason McHugh says the Mediterranean restaurant will participate in Dining Under the Stars once the summer hits and will utilize sidewalk space rather than the street for its outside dining.

Expect entertainment almost every week, from live music performed by local artists, to the corvette show, and the fashion show, there’s always something happening while you dine.

Have you eaten at either of State Street's newest restaurants yet? Tell us what you think here.

Dining Under the Stars has canceled its opening night (5/2) due to the chilly and rainy weather. Be sure to come out next Wednesday for what will hopefully be the first Dining Under the Stars 2012 event.
