FBI, Media Police Investigate Bank Robbery

A man robbed a Media Borough bank Wednesday afternoon.

Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Media Borough on Wednesday afternoon.

A black man entered the First Cornerstone Bank, located at 2 W. Baltimore Pike in Media, at about 1:05 p.m. Wednesday and demanded money.

The man approached two separate tellers and in a calm voiced announced a robbery and told the tellers to empty their bank drawers, according to Media Police Chief Marty Wusinich.

The man then calmly left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen on foot heading South on Plum Street towards Jefferson Street, according to Wusinich.

No weapon was implied or displayed and no one was injured, according to Wusinich.

The black man is described as being between 25 to 30 years of age, approximately 6-foot tall, average build about 220-240 pounds, and was last seen wearing a grey zipper front hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, a Phillies ball cap on backwards and dark sunglasses.

Media Police are currently investigating this bank robbery with the assistance of the FBI and the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division.

According to Wusinich, it is unknown at this time if this bank robbery is related to an earlier robbery at the Sovereign Bank on October 20.

The man is considered armed and dangerous, according to FBI Special Agent Frank Burton, Jr. with the Philadelphia Division.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of this man, according to Burton.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Media Police Department or the FBI at 215-418-4000. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
