Get Out: Santa, Caroling, Carrage Rides, and Lights

It's a busy holiday week and weekend in and around Media Patch. See what's going on.

 

 

December is filled with locally hosted celebrations of the season. Here is a list of local holiday events still happening around town. But hurry, time is running out.

Christmas Around the Farm

  • When: Now through December 24
  • Where: Linvilla Orchards, 137 W Knowlton Road, Media
  • Why Go: Come see the farm decorated for Christmas. See the Christmasland display and visit with the animals. The Christmas Shop & Garden Center features wreaths, freshly cut trees, greens & holly, decorations, fruit and gift baskets, Christmas gifts, hot mulled cider & children's crafts. On Saturdays and Sundays, visit with Santa Clause between 1 and 3 p.m. Take a hayride to the field and cut down your own Christmas tree. 
  • Cost: Free, Tree cutting costs $59.99

Festival of Lights

  • When: Nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Rose Tree Park, 1671 N Providence Rd, Media
  • Why Go: Enjoy dozens of decorated lit trees and festive displays. Bring the kids to see displays of everyone's favorite characters, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang and Santa and his Reindeer. The trees are lit each night at 5:30 for public enjoyment.
  • Cost: Free

Carriage Rides through Media Borough

  • When: December 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Today is the last night
  • Where: Carriage rides leave from the Delaware County Courthouse on Front Street and travel through the borough.
  • Why Go: There’s nothing like slowing down and cuddling up to your loved ones to enjoy the season. You can do so while enjoying an old-fashioned carriage ride through Media.
  • Cost: Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. For more information, call 610.566.5039.

Santa Paws

  • When: December 20 from 4 to 7 p.m.
  •  Where: Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, 101 W State Street in Media
  • Why Go: Bring your favorite furry friend to pose with Santa. The Delco SPCA will have a photographer present who will email the pictures to the families but you are welcome to bring your own camera.
  • Cost: Free but a donation to the Delco SPCA is encouraged.

Caroling Hayrides

  • When: December 22 at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Linvilla Orchards, 137 N Knowlton Rd, Media
  • Why Go: Celebrate the ancient tradition of Wassailing and sing Christmas Carols around a campfire. Roast marshmallows and enjoy delicious apple cider.
  • Cost: $5 per person

Santa's Village at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union

  • When: Now through December 23, from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Where: Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, 101 W State Street in Media
  • Why Go: Visit Santa and tell him what you'd like for Christmas. Bring your own camera and snap a picture with the big guy in the red suit too.
