Man with Active DUI Warrant Strikes Constructer Worker with Car

A West Chester man struck a construction worker in Edgmont Township Tuesday and is suspected to have been under the influence, State Police said.

 

A West Chester man struck a construction worker in Edgmont Township Tuesday and is suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks.

Nicholaus Anthony DeSimone, 20, crashed his Acura TL into a female Royersford pedestrian who was flagging traffic in an active work zone in the 3100 block of Providence Road at about 11:52 a.m. on Jan. 3, State Police said.

DeSimone, who had an active warrant out of Philadelphia for DUI and possesssion charges, showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance following Tuesday's crash, State Police said.

He was also in possession of suspected heroin and syringes at the time, State Police said.

The Delaware County Daily Times reported that the flagperson was taken to Paoli Hospital with moderate injuries.

Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.
