Media/Elwyn Line Implements Flag Stops

SEPTA will slightly alter it's Media/Elwyn train schedules while others will stay the same.

Train service on the Media/Elwyn and Lansdale/Doylestown lines has been reduced, and trains on the Manayunk/Norristown line will soon be leaving earlier than they had previously been departing, SEPTA announced.

Those changes go into effect Dec. 18.

On the Media/Elwyn line, trains for the Angora and 49th Street stations will now make flag stops. Meaning trains will stop to discharge passengers only on notice to a conductor, and pick up passengers at platforms only when visible to the train engineer, according to SEPTA.

Chestnut Hill East and West SEPTA schedules will remain the same throughout December even as others change.

Lines where service has been reduced are not seeing the ridership that they once were, according to SEPTA, so certain weekend stops have been discontinued.

SEPTA hasn't determined that ridership is low enough to change the Chestnut Hill East and West schedules. So they will remain the same for now.

SEPTA recently launched line-specific Twitter accounts that are intended to help customers find out more quickly about delays and cancellations when they do happen.
