Media Mayor Joins Demand to End Gun Violence
Media Mayor Bob McMahon and 11 other Delaware County mayors and local law enforcement officials call on President Obama and members of Congress to take immediate steps to end the nation’s gun violence epidemic.
A month after the shooting deaths of 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Media Mayor Bob McMahon and 11 other Delaware County mayors and local law enforcement officials gathered at the Towne House in Media, calling on the President and Congress to take immediate steps to end the nation’s gun violence epidemic.
A television ad by Mayors Against Illegal Guns was also released Monday. The ad features family members of gun violence victims demanding a plan of action from Washington. It will air in the Philadelphia market and can be seen here www.DemandAPlan.org or view the attached clip.
"As a combat Veteran in Vietnam, I believe that that military style firearms and clips should be limited to the military and law enforcement officials," McMahon said in a statement.
McMahon and the other Delaware County mayors, both Democrat and Republican, urged Washington to end gun violence in America by:
- Requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales.
- Banning military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
- Making gun trafficking a federal crime.
