Middletown Road Closures, Power Outages: Thursday Update
Here are the latest road closures and information due to the storm in Middletown Township which may have been the hardest hit area in Media Patch.
Middletown Township may have been the hardest hit area within Media Patch during Superstorm Sandy. The township continued to see power outages and some road closures Thursday.
Should any resident come across barricades, caution tape, cones etc., please remember that they are placed there to indicate a hazardous condition and should not be crossed. There are live wires and other hazardous issues that are being addressed. Please take caution.
Below is an update from Township Administration as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
Road Closures -- As of 11 a.m. Friday all roads are open
- Barren Rd. Between Penncrest High School and Painter - It is anticipated to have the road open by the end of Thursday.
- Howarth Road between Ahrens and the creek
- Valley between Hermitage and Darlington
In Delaware County, between 5,000-10,000 customers were without power, as of 7 p.m. Thursday. Many customers' power was restored Wednesday and Thursday in Middletown Township but between 51-500 outages remained as of 7 p.m. Thursday.
Recycling Pick Up and Yard Waste Collection
Township recycling services are aware of the road closures and working around them as much as possible to maintain the normal schedule. Follow your regular schedule but if your recycling is not picked up please wait until the next scheduled pick up.
The next yard waste collection is Nov. 21. An additional yard waste date is being considered and if one is scheduled, there will be an announcement on the township website and community bulletin board.
