Paid or Unpaid Leave for Springton Lake Principal?

The Springton Lake Middle School principal was placed on administrative leave in October yet the question of whether he continues to receive his salary, goes unanswered.

Springton Lake Middle School Principal Dr. Troy Czukoski was placed on administrative leave in October due to a federal investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Postal Service.

Rose Tree Media School District Superintendent James Wigo said the investigation remains sealed by federal officials and no new information has been released.

Czukoski has not been charged with any crime.

Ralph Harrison, who was formerly assistant principal of Penncrest High School, was appointed by the Rose Tree Media School Board as Springton Lake's acting principal as of Jan. 1.

However, it is unclear whether Czukoski's salary is still being paid while he is on leave for an undetermined amount of time.

Wigo told Media Patch that it is a personnel matter and the information is not available to the public.

RTM Board of School Directors President John Hanna said that any questions regarding Czukoski should be directed to Wigo.

The Rose Tree Media Board of School Directors approved Czukoski's $133,476 annual salary effective July 1, 2012, according to district documents.

So the question remains, is Czukoski on a paid or unpaid leave of absence?

If he continues to collect a salary of our hard-earned tax dollars and is found guilty of this crime, he should have to pay us back every cent!!!! Otherwise we've rewarded bad behavior. A school principal is supposed to be a role model. I don't want my tax dollars paying for his day of gold and his legal team. The acting Principal should have gotten an increase in pay since he IS doing the job - we can't afford to pay them both that salary. Dr. Troy can spend his 8 hours a day picking up trash on our streets if he continues to get paid.

Innocent until proven guilty so there really isn't anything we can do about it. There is probably a compensation cap for administrative leave, sooner or later he'll hit that cap.
