The Penncrest High School senior captain of the ice hockey team is the 2011-12 Daily Times Player of the Year.

Matt Menta received the honor for his ability to perform his best while fighting through injuries and for being able to do a little bit of everything for Penncrest, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Playing at center, the two-time All-Delco star has obtained the reputation as one of the best players, if not the best, in the county. But he's still a team player.

"I don’t worry about how I do or how much I score. I just want to help the team win," Menta told Patch in a previous interview.

After high school, Menta hopes to continue his hockey career with a scholarship at a Division 1 school.
