The public again spoke to Media Borough Council regarding its opinions on the 3rd Street Project at a recent workshop meeting.

According to the Delaware County News Network, council will act on giving design engineers a direction for a 28-foot bridge width at the Sept. 20 meeting.

In May, council voted to notified the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation that the direction of the 3rd Street Project was to replace the existing dam with another dam structure that has both a vehicular and pedestrian component, consistent with the three-way stipulation between the borough, county and Broomall's Lake County Club made in May 2011. The stipulation binds council to replacing the dam.

At the recent workshop meeting, representatives from the Friends of Glen Providence Park again presented its vision for a one-way roadway and limited park disruption much like the organization's vision which was presented to borough council at its August's meeting and numerous other times.

Former Borough Councilman Jim Cunningham also spoke at the workshop meeting saying, a one-way roadway, "is the view of the silent majority of those in town," Delco News Network reported.

Cunningham also recently blogged about the issue on Media Patch here, saying that, "It is time for Media Borough Council to approve a two-way vehicular bridge that will serve all the people of Media and its neighbors and time for Media Borough Council itself to put this already resolved matter behind us and move on to the important unresolved issues of our town and not re-plow plowed ground, again and again."
