Rocky Run YMCA Names 2011 Employee of the Year

Mary Curcio was named the Rocky Run YMCA 2011 Employee of the Year.

named its 2011 Employee of the Year at a luncheon in January.

Mary Curcio has been named the Rocky Run Y 2011 Employee of the Year, for her commitment and service to the Rocky Run YMCA.

YMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity President and CEO John F. Flynn, along with Gary Burgess, senior vice president of human resources at Crown Cork and Seal USA, Inc. and Tom Bender, chair of the association board of directors of the YMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity, recognized Curcio at an employee recognition luncheon on Jan. 17.

More than 10 years ago, Curcio first joined the Rocky Run Y as a group exercise instructor. Her energetic and enthusiastic personality quickly drew members to her classes where she made connections to members and staff at the Y.

Once the position as group exercise Ccordinator opened up at the Y, the staff members knew immediately that she would be the perfect person for the job. She continued to teach classes at the Y, while supervising more than 60 group exercise instructors to develop 120 group exercise classes per week.

Over the years, her responsibility has grown and she is now the group exercise and corporate sales director for the Rocky Run YMCA. In just a short time as the corporate sales director, Curcio has assisted in securing 50 corporate memberships for the YMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity.

"Mary grabs a hold of an idea and makes it happen. She makes others excited about what is going on and motivates others with her positive energy," Associate Executive Director of the Rocky Run YMCA Sue Herr said. "She is truly a gem at the Rocky Run Y."
