A two-car, hit-and-run crash resulted in a DUI arrest and the recovery of a stolen vehicle, according to the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks.
Justin Michael DiDaniels, 36, of Bear, Del. was arrested and charged in connection with driving under the influence, according to State Police.
DiDaniels was driving a black, Chevrolet Camaro on Route 352 near Barren Road at about 11:56 p.m. on Aug. 15 when he struck the rear bumper of an Acura TSX, which was stopped at a traffic light, according to State Police.
The 32-year-old man driving the Acura exited his vehicle in order to exchange information with DiDaniels but DiDaniels then drove from the scene and continued down Route 352 northbound at a high rate of speed, according to State Police.
DiDaniels lost control of the Camaro near Forge Road, crossed the center lane and traveled on the shoulder of the roadway for about 50 yards before hitting a fence on a residential property on W. Forge Road, according to State Police, but the vehicle continued to travel on the shoulder before coming to a rest in a ditch just before the intersection of Forge Road.
DiDaniels then fled the scene on foot, according to State Police.
But he soon returned to the scene and police determined that he was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and charges were filed in District Court 32-2-48, according to State Police.
A records check of the Camaro also revealed that it had been stolen and reported to the Swarthmore Police Department, according to State Police.
The vehicle's registered owner was notified of its recovery.
