Terry Bradshaw's 'Today In America' Show May Be Filmed In Media

Members of Media Borough Council say they're in favor of crews filming in the area.

Mayor Robert McMahon announced Thursday night that he received a request from producers of the Discovery Channel show "Today In America"  to film in the borough.

The council didn't vote on a motion to approve the filming, but McMahon simply put it on the table.

"What I'm doing is just opening it for discussion," he said.

McMahon had only got word about a week ago, but has since spoken with producers from the show twice. At the Media Borough Council meeting Thursday night, McMahon announced that he and a few other council members will have an additional conference call with producers late Friday morning to talk details.

Since producers are on a deadline, said McMahon, the decision has to be made rather quickly.

But council members seem to think the 5-minute portion being filmed in the borough would be a good thing to put Media on the map.

"I really think it's something worth at least exploring," said council vice president Monica Simpson. "It is a well-known show in almost documentary-type format."

Simpson added, however, that the details of financing the project would need to be taken into account when making a decision.

The pros to allowing filming for the show?

"I think that right now Media is a magnet for the county," said council president Brian Hall. "This is a way of getting the word out beyond the immediate area. We can easily see Media becoming an attraction for people from Wilmington or people from Baltimore."

He added: "If it were to happen, I think it would be something that would be a great ornament for the town."

The show focuses on business and lifestyle news, and generally hones in on up-and-coming industries.

Any other details are unclear at this point, but be sure to tune in with Patch to get the scoop.
