Zac's Hamburgers in Media Closes Doors

The hamburger spot at the corner of Orange and State streets closed last weekend.

Zac's Hamburgers, at the corner of Orange and State streets, flipped its last burger and blended its last milkshake last weekend in Media.

Zac's four other locations in Aston, Crum Lynne, Folsom and Havertown will remain open.

Owner Pete Politarhos says the classic burger joint was unable to work out a new lease agreement with the building's landlord and the last day at the Media location was Nov. 24.

However, Politarhos says, the hope is to find a new Media location.

"We will miss all of our customers in Media but look forward to seeing them again in the near future," Politarhos says.

Media was Zac's Hamburgers third location and opened in 2005.

This totally sucks! I am very unhappy that such a thriving business has fallen prey to someone else's greed...
What about all the employees that worked there? What about the throngs of people who enjoyed lunch there?
Media, do you see a trend of how many businesses have trouble staying afloat due to super high rent in the Borough? Why is nothing being done to help small businesses make it up there?

Those businesses that can't survive in media borough may be able to find spots in Granite Run Mall. Although I live in Media, haven't been inside Granite Run since my windshields was smashed and my car robbed, a few Christmas' ago. Tired of traveling to Christiana and King of Prussia for shopping. didn't know I lived in such a depressed area.

Springfield has managed to turn itself around and become a pretty decent mall and the Concord Mall is nice and much closer than Christiana. You (we) don't live in a depressed area. Simon has just stopped giving a crap about Granite Run, for some reason.

Same has been happening for over a year now in Radnor....the landlords think the markets are coming back so they are raising rents so high that businesses have to close.
