Nearly 100 students from Indian Lane Elementary School joined participants from all of the Rose Tree Media schools in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a day of service. Students in grades K-5 spent the morning:

• Bagging clothing and other items for Cradles to Crayons
• Baking cookies and donating frozen casseroles to CityTeam
• Assembling toiletry kits for CityTeam shelter residents
• Braiding dog toys for the Animal Coalition of Delaware County
• Packing meal bags for the Ronald McDonald House

Students also learned about Dr. King's legacy through designing posters about leaders of the civil rights movement, watching Dr. King's "I Have a Dream Speech," and enjoying a special presentation by the Hedgerow Theater about Soujourner Truth, who was born a slave but became a prominent abolitionist and women's rights leader.
