The 3rd Street Bridge/Dam has been closed for 16 years. Media Borough Council has sought public opinion on what to do with the project through numerous public meetings, a citizen's advisory committee and mailed survey to residents.

Common Pleas Court Judge James Proud ruled on Monday to revoke a May 2011 stipulation agreement between Media Borough, Delaware County and Broomall's Lake Country Club. Although the stipulation agreement did not answer the question of "who owns the dam," it did move the project forward in May 2011 after 16 years of litigation. Media Borough was responsible for the repairs to the road while the county and BLCC were to maintain the dam once the repairs were made. Several residents showed support at last week's Media Borough Council meeting for what has been called a "compromise" on the 3rd Street Project decision to create a one-lane, one-way roadway across the dam. According to the Delaware County News Network, council will act on giving design engineers a direction for a 28-foot bridge width at the Sept. 20 meeting. The Friends of Glen Providence Park presented its vision, principles and key elements for the 3rd Street Project at Thursday's Media Borough Council meeting. The group's vision is public safety, minimal environmental impact and community enjoyment. Borough resident Linda Healy, a member of the Friends group, said this vision is a shared vision of the community shown by both local political parties, project stakeholders and in public opinion surveys. Media Borough Council held a special meeting Thursday to hear the public's opinion once again on the 3rd Street Project before a vote next week. Media Borough Council and the 3rd Street Project Citizen's Advisory Committee addressed resident concerns at Thursday's council meeting, over not receiving the mailed 3rd Street opinion survey. About 3,800 mailings were sent out to residents, including renters, property owners and business owners, in the hopes of gathering an informed overall borough opinion on how to proceed with the 3rd Street Project. Media Borough Council gave a status update on the progress of the 3rd Street Dam/Bridge project at its meeting Thursday night and determined no design decisions will be made until the newly elected council is appointed in January. Council President Pete Alyanakian said members of council met with their legal counsel to discuss any options they have if they were to change the designs of the project.
