Art along the Creek - Open Studio Weekend November 17-18
On November 17th - 18th as part of Art Along The Creek, the Artists of Heron Crest Studios and 2 New Road Studios welcome the public into their studios which overlook the western branch of the Chester Creek. Follow the Art Along the Creek signs on Mount Road in Aston to Heron Crest Studios, located at the intersection of Mount and Red Hill Roads and to 2 New Road Studios, located, as their name says, at 2 New Road in the Riddle Valley Industrial Park. Don’t miss this chance to discover a hidden gem in an historical setting.
At 2 New Road Studios you’ll find Elisabeth Jönsson Brown, a Swedish weaver who makes her own fabric on room-sized looms and designs meticulously tailored coats, jackets and scarves. Madeleine Kelly, who was recently featured in American Artist, works in all mediums but is partial to colors and textures of pastel and oil paint. This year the roster of invited artists includes silversmith Pam Levin, book maker/calligrapher Meg Kennedy, clockmaker Karyn Warren, potters Penny Emery and Peggy Martin, painters Jane McGovern, Dee Casner, and Lois Jones, and flame work glass jewelers Karla Read and Judy Fowler.
During Art Along the Creek weekends you can meet the artists, see where they work and admire and purchase a variety of fine art and craft. Heron Crest Studios features internationally recognized portrait artist Ellen Cooper, known for her well-honed eye and flawless draftsmanship and Lisa Liebman whose mixed media portraits capture the essence of her subjects. You will enjoy the playful abstract paintings of Beverly Blum, the spiritually inspired works of T.J. Walsh and Kelly Zimmerman’s abstract paintings. Paintings by Elizabeth Breakell, Ann Guidera-Matey, Margo Johnson and Pat Scarano reflect their love of the local landscape and views from around the world. Barbara Tollen will display her traditionally inspired quilts, many for the first time. Visitors can try on Heidi Hammel’s wearable fiber art known for its funky elegance and featured twice in The Crafts Report
Art Along The Creek is this Saturday and Sunday November 17th-18th the doors will be open from 11AM to 5PM. Ample parking is available at both locations. For more information go to artalongthecreek.com
