Paws for Reading Wednesday in Media

Read about some of the things happening Wednesday in Media.

Here are a few things you need to know to jump start your day. If we missed anything, let us know in the comments below. 

  • Reading Fun: Paws for Reading at 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Media-Upper Providence Library. For ages 5-11. Children can read aloud to a therapy dog in order to improve reading and communication skills making them feel comfortable and confident—while having fun. Registration required: 610-566-1918.
  • Cooking: Get delicious and creative ideas for what to do with those extra garden vegetables at 6 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Tyler Arboretum. Pre-registration required; $15 members, $20 non-members. To register contact Joanne Landau at 610-566-9134 x215 or jlandau@tylerarboretum.org. More info here.
  • Yard Waste: Middletown Township Yard Waste Collection on Aug. 21
  • Recycle: Area 2 Recycling Collection days in Middletown Township on Aug. 21, 22 and 23
  • Food: Dining Under the Stars on Wednesday
  • Traffic: Check on your commute on the PennDOT traffic cameras before you leave the house. But the traffic will likely be terrible—it's traffic.
  • Weather: The forecast calls for temperatures to reach the 90s with sunny skies. Temperatures are expected to drop to the 70s in the evening.  
  • History: Per the History Channel, on this day in 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state and in 1987 the movie Dirty Dancing opening.
