Media Film Festival's Best of the Fest!

A group of outstanding short films, that were official selections at the Media Film Festival, will be shown at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, Thursday, August 15 at 7:30pm as part of the "Best of the Fest" fundraiser to benefit the Media Youth Film Initiative (MyFi)

This popular event showcases award-winners and other hand- picked films which represent the work of talented filmmakers from our community and beyond.

Films Showing:  


Kingdom of Shadows
(13m, USA) directed by Kevin Corcoran and filmed at the CAC - a film researcher gains possession of a lost silent film and becomes obsessed with the film's long-dead star
Birdman
(15m, USA) directed by Strathhaven grad Jessica Auritt, a unique profile of the Birdman, the quirky owner of a cluttered music shop in NYC who carries on despite a slow economy, online music sales and a changing neighborhood
Irina
(18m, USA) directed by Michael Johnston - Struggling with the disastrous review of her latest play, an aging theater actress transforms her apartment into her stage

A Night With Nova

(27m, USA) directed by Kenneth Kraft - A belittled poet pours his soul out to the one he loves

Also screening at the "Best of the Fest" will be Imagine, the premiere project from the Media Youth Film Initiative, MyFi, a film production class for area high school students co-sponsored by the Media Arts Council and the Media Youth Center.  

MyFi allows teens to learn the craft of filmmaking from a professional instructor

Proceeds from the evening will help provide financial aid for deserving students.
