PENNCREST WORLD LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT EARNS GOLD

Rose Tree Media School District is proud to announce that Penncrest High School has earned a 2014 Golden Globe Award for exemplary World Language programs from the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association (PSMLA). Penncrest is one of only eight Pennsylvania high schools to earn the honor. To earn gold, the department completed many hours of World Language specific professional development and instituted meaningful standardized language proficiency assessments across four languages. Principal Richard Gregg is not surprised by the recognition, “Our world language department is second to none. Our teachers are highly educated, focused, and passionate about their work.  They have embraced cutting edge technology to enhance their programs and are committed to providing the best possible world language educational experience for their students.”

PSMLA began showcasing Exemplary PA high school foreign language Programs (PEP) in honor of the national “2005 Year of Languages.” All PA high schools are invited to participate!

PEP schools are required to submit evidence to document they meet the rigorous criteria established by PSMLA. PEP is not a competition. The goal of PEP is to provide a blueprint so that ALL PA high school world language programs become PEP Award programs.

The two-year PEP awards are awarded in four categories: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Globe Awards.
