TWO ST MARY MAGDALEN STUDENTS AWARDED NEUMANN SCHOLARSHIPS

Two Saint Mary Magdalen School eighth grade students have been named 2014 Neumann Scholars, entitling them each to four-year scholarships to the Archdiocesan High School of their choice. Clare Stoyell-Mulholland and Julia Lundeen were presented with this prestigious award by Tom Connelly and Emily Reilly of the Connelly Foundation.

The Neumann Scholars Program, sponsored by the Connelly Foundation was launched in 1995 to recognize academically talented eighth grade students in parochial elementary schools in the Philadelphia Archdiocese. Students who have demonstrated high academic achievement in the classroom and on standardized testing are invited to sit for the Neumann Scholarship exam, given each year in January. This year, 857 top eighth grade students in the diocese sat for the test and 37 were awarded scholarships.  Over half of St. Mary's 8th grade class were eligible to sit for the exam.
