Paws For Reading

PAWS for Reading will be at the Media-Upper
Providence Free Library with one of its therapy dog teams on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each
month from 6:30-7:30pm. PAWS for Reading is a program that allows children to
read aloud to a therapy dog in order to improve reading and communication
skills. Children read individually to trained therapy pets (and their handlers)
in settings where they can feel comfortable and confident — and have fun! After
all, a dog will not correct them or make them feel awkward if they stumble.
Each therapy dog must go through 14 hours of training to be able to participate
in PAWS for Reading. For more information on the PAWS for Reading program,
visit http://www.pawsforpeople.org/children/paws-for-reading.

If
your child has allergies but would still like to participate, please let us
know so accommodations can be made. Space is limited, so registration is
required. Each session must be registered for individually beginning on the
dates listed below. Once a child has participated, new registrants will have
priority for the next session.
