Get Out: Festival of Lights, Velveteen Rabbit, Art Exhibition

It's a busy weekend in and around Media Patch this weekend. See what's going on.

This weekend is full of fun things to do. If you missed Santa's visit to Media last week, the big guy will be making a stop in Rose Tree Park on Saturday and will turn on the Festival of Lights. Make some holiday themed crafts at a Green Sunday workshop or check out other artist's work at a Beauty Art Gallery Exhibit.

Rose Tree Park Tree Lighting Ceremony

  • When/Where: Saturday, Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m. at Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence Township
  • Why Go: Delaware County's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off the month-long Festival of Lights in Rose Tree Park. Springton Lake Middle School Chorus will perform and of course the arrival of Santa will help to illuminated the trees. Enjoy the Festival of Lights each night until 9:30 p.m. throughout December.

Velveteen Rabbit Christmas

  • When/Where: Saturdays, Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22 at 11 a.m. at Media Theatre, 104 E State St, Media
  • Why Go: Toys come to life in this enchanting musical based on the classic story. Have fun with the kids and learn the true meaning of the holiday season.
  • Cost: $10

Green Sunday Holiday Craft Workshop

  • When/Where: Sunday, Dec. 2 at noon to 5 p.m. at Media Borough City Government Offices, 301 N Jackson St, Media
  • Why Go: Enjoy the "spirit of the gift" at this fair and craft workshop where you can swap holiday decorations, learn how to make handmade soap or create customized crafts as gifts. Workshops are offered for all ages and will celebrate local craftspeople and businesses.
  • Cost: Free

Small Treasures Art Exhibition

  • When/Where: Saturday, Dec. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beauty Art Gallery, 3857 Providence Rd, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: Small art works of many types, including, paintings, photographs, mosaics, ceramics, art glass and jewelry will be available throughout December.
  • Cost: Free
