Orange St. Expected To Be Closed Until Friday

Orange Street in Media is closed between Centennial and Kirk roads.

The 900 block of Orange Street in Media has been closed for emergency repair work since Monday morning and is expected to stay closed until Friday, officials say.

The roadway is closed between Centennial and Kirk roads, according to Media Police Chief Marty Wusinich.

Emergency construction to repair a damaged underground drainage pipe was the cause of the road closure, according to Eugene Blaum, assistant press secretary with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

A portion of the underground pipe collapsed under Orange Street last weekend and caused the pavement to sink near a drainage inlet, according to Blaum.

PennDOT expects to reopen Orange Street on July 19 barring unforeseen complications or weather-related delays, according to Blaum.

The detour takes traffic over Kirk Road, Route 252 and Baltimore Pike.
