PennDOT Reduces Speed Limit to 45 MPH on Major Routes

Please use caution when driving.

PennDOT has reduced the speed limit to 45 mph temporarily on several expressways in the region, due to extreme weather conditions.

Those who must drive on roadways will see speeds reduced on the following routes:

  • Interstates 76, 78, 80, 81, 95, 176, 380, 476 and 676;
  • U.S. Routes 1, 22, 30, 202, 209, 222, 422, and
  • State Routes 33, 100 and 309.
According to a press release, although PennDOT crews are treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.
