Ray Roche Park Gets An Update

Kids will be climbing to get to the new equipment at the Upper Providence Township park.

Ray Roche Park in Upper Providence Township is currently undergoing a facelift.

New equipment, which had been in storage for more than five years, is being installed at the Maple and First avenues park.

Installation of a new jungle-gym, climbing area started on July 23, Township Manager Greg Lebold said, the installation of a rubberized safety mat around all of the equipment, instead of wood chips still needs to be completed.

Spring-mounted animals will also be installed along with two new benches, Lebold said.

Currently, there are no plans to update the swing set area, however they will be painted.

All of the installation is being done by the township's Highway Department, when weather permits.

The $9,975 project was financed through recreational impact funds and did not use any general funds (taxpayer money), Lebold said.

A firm completion dates is not yet available and township council will consider a ribbon cutting ceremony upon completion.
