Shuttle buses will operate in place of rail service along SEPTA’s Media/Elwyn Regional Rail Line between Elwyn and Morton stations on Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and again on Oct. 6.
Crews will be making structural repairs to the Crum Creek Viaduct—a 100 foot high trestle that transports the line across the creek, according to SEPTA Press Officer Kristin Geiger.
Passengers traveling inbound to Center City from Elwyn will board waiting shuttle buses approximately 25 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled train times. Stops will then be made at Media, Moyland-Rose Valley, Wallingford and Swarthmore stations before connecting passengers with trains at Morton Station.
Inbound trains will depart from Morton station five minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled trip times, according to Geiger.
Outbound trains will travel as far as Morton Station and will arrive five minutes later than the regularly scheduled train times.
Passengers traveling outbound to Swarthmore, Wallingford, Moyland-Rose Valley and Elwyn will transfer from trains to shuttle buses at Morton Station to complete their outbound trips.
Shuttle bus passengers should anticipate arriving up to 25 minutes later than regularly scheduled train times, according to Geiger.
Shuttle bus departure and train arrival times will differ from regularly scheduled train times, passengers should refer to schedules posted at stations or online at www.septa.org for the updated information.
The rail work will also impact Saturday's operations.
Single track operations will be in effect along the Media/Elwyn line on Sept. 28 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and again on Oct. 5, due to bridge inspections.
This project will affect both the Media/Elwyn and Chestnut Hill East lines as follows:
Passengers traveling inbound to Center City will depart from Elwyn Station nine minutes earlier than regularly scheduled trip times and will arrive 14 minutes later at 30th Street, Suburban, Market East and Temple University stations.
Passengers traveling outbound to Elwyn will depart from Temple University, Market East, Suburban and 30th Street stations 21 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled trip times and will arrive 15 minutes earlier at Elwyn Station.
Outbound train #7303 scheduled to depart from Temple University Station at 6:58 a.m. will NOT operate on Sept. 28 or Oct. 5.
Chestnut Hill East:
Passengers traveling inbound to Center City from Chestnut Hill East will board trains 21 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled train times.
