Garbage Art Contest

Transition Town Media is pleased to announce a Garbage Art Contest at our Thursday, April 26th Potluck Dinner. So, what is Garbage Art? Garbage Art is any art made predominantly from items that are normally thrown in your trash or recycling. And who are the Artists? That would be YOU!   We are inviting children and adults to craft a work of art using trash and recyclables for display at our event on April 26. Community members who attend the event will vote for their favorite works of Garbage Art. Prizes will be awarded to the top vote-getters from the adult and child categories. Artist and Earth & State shop owner, Drew Arata, will be our guest emcee and will provide expert commentary.

The guidelines are simple: Please use mostly trash and recyclables. Try to refrain from anything messy or smelly. Your artwork needs to be small and portable enough to display at the Media Borough Community Center. Artists are responsible for setting up their artwork between 5:30 and 6:15 pm and for removing them between 7:45 and the end of the potluck (approx. 8:30). You may arrange for someone else to do this or to help you, but it is your responsibility to arrange it.
So, start collecting your materials, crafting your ideas and then - BUILD IT!!! Your imagination (and your trash bins) are your only limits!

The evening will start with a business meeting at 6pm. Come hear what we're doing in 2012 and add your ideas & dreams to the mix!

Then, we'll have a family-friendly, community-wide potluck starting at 6:30. Join your friends & neighbors at dinner - relax & get to know each other better! As part of the event, we will also be showing a short film - The Story of Stuff.
