Although the first recording of “the blues” was in 1921, the blues as a musical genre is at least a century old. As a feeling - it’s as old as humanity. The roots of the blues comes mostly from the Delta, Piedmont and Eastern Texas regions of the U.S.
The blues in all its many forms strikes a universal chord in people. There is something organic and primal in it that resonates in the soul regardless of one’s race, country or religion. For me playing the blues is cathartic.

The Johnny Never Band and Johnny Never solo pay homage to Blind Boy Fuller, Robert Johnson, Son House and the vast array of obscure characters that were the first recorded blues artists. Johnny Never has opened for national acts and performed in festivals and venues all over the east. In 2011 they were one of only three bands selected by the Philadelphia Folk Song Society to perform in a concert honoring the 100th birthday of Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson.
