Staged Reading of BLACK PAWN by Playwright Michael Gerhardt
Join us for a staged reading of BLACK PAWN by playwright Michael Gerhardt
Monday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m.Gerhardt is a local playwright and author. This is his third play. He also has written four novels (Presidential Powers, The Lincoln Affair, The Rodina Plot and Black Pawn), several with intense historical research that served as their base. Black Pawn is the story of America's only colonial effort in Africa and challenges our viewpoints of American policies. Who was behind the US efforts to establish a colony on the west coast of Africa? And why was it established? What has America to do with Liberia in today's world? Presented in a whimsical, funny and entertaining fashion, Black Pawn is packed with little known facts from America's past. Prepare to be entertained but also to have your views of world morality challenged. A talk back with the audience will follow the reading.
Admission is free; donations are welcome.
