Grab & Go Kids Planner: Dr. Seuss Storytimes, Owl Prowl, Zumba for Kids

Find fun local events for the whole family on our list of family best bets for this week.

From Dr. Seuss story times and an indoor carnival to an owl prowl and Zumba for kids, there’s plenty of local fun for the whole family this week. Check out the variety of local events listed below, and then let us know of any other great local events you’re planning to attend.

OWL PROWL

Where/When: from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Why Go: Learn about owls and the myths associated with them through an indoor program followed by a short hike to listen for the calls of Eastern screech owls. Plus, the evening ends with hot drinks and snacks.
Pricing: $6 for members, $8 for nonmembers; registration required.

ZUMBATOMICS FOR KIDS

Where/When: Sangha Space at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (3/2).
Why Go: Shake your sillies out in this effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired fitness class that encourages kids to dance, wiggle and sing along to great songs. Parents who are up to the challenge can join in too. The class is geared toward kids ages 7 to 15.
Pricing: $15 per class or $12 per class with purchase of 10 classes; drop-ins welcome.

Where/When: at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Why Go: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with stories, songs, a craft and, of course, cake. Both celebrations are hosted by Miss Chris, a favorite for story times in the area.
Pricing: Free

 

 Where/When: from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Why Go: Join friends and neighbors at an indoor carnival featuring a moon-bounce, homemade carnival games, hands-on arts and crafts, a dance show and more. Stay for lunch and enjoy carnival food, drinks, baked goods and an ice cream bar.
Pricing: Free to enter; food, game tickets and raffle chances for purchase.

 

KIDS PJ NIGHT

Where/When: Color Me Mine from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
Why Go: Get the family together for an evening of TV-free fun as you paint your own planter, mug or Disney princess together. Plenty of stencils, idea books and helpful staff are on hand to aid those less artistically inclined. Get $6 off the studio fee for ages 12 and under by getting the kids dressed for bed first.
Pricing: $1 studio fee for kids wearing pajamas.

 

DR. SEUSS STORYTIME

Where/When: Target from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. 
Why Go: Stop at either store in Springfield between Saturday morning errands and listen to Dr. Seuss favorites, as well as enjoying Target coupons and giveaways. Plus, select Dr. Seuss books are on sale in-store or online, two for $10.
