Boutique Suggests What to Wear to New Year’s Eve Parties

Per Lei Boutique on State Street has some of the hot trends to wear while ringing in 2011.

MEDIA–What to wear for a New Year's Eve celebration can sometimes be just has hard as finding the perfect Christmas present for that special someone. Per Lei Boutique on State Street has some of the hot trends available to it's lucky customers.

Shop owner Candice Caprice, of Media, suggested some New Year's Eve trends for those last minute shoppers out there.

She said New Year's Eve has gotten a little less dressy in recent years compared to what it used to be so it's all about working in accessories to pieces already in your closet.

"A pair of great denim with a sequin top and a blazer would definitely work," Caprice said.

Metallics and sequins always work for a festive party but the little black dress is always a classic.

"A little black dress paired with some great jewelry can work too," she said.

If a simple house party is where you'll be ringing in 2011 a cute top with a jeweled embellishment on it makes for a trendy but comfortable look, Caprice suggested.

The holiday season is a busy time of year for Per Lei Boutique but for some reason New Year's Eve outfits are often shopped for at the last minute.

"They'll come in anywhere from the day after Christmas to New Year's Eve day looking for something. People wait until the last minute and say, 'ok what am I going to wear,'" Caprice said.

Accessories have been a big seller at Per Lei too.

"You don't have to buy a whole new outfit, just update what you already have with new accessories," she suggested.

Caprice said fur is fun too. Fur can be paired over a black dress or with denim and some bangle bracelets and big earrings to accessorize.

Also, consider wearing that New Year's Eve outfit again but this time to the office instead. A simple black, shimmer sweater can be worn with a pencil skirt and heels for New Year's Eve and then for work wear it over a collared shirt with a wide-leg pant and you get two outfits for the price of one, Caprice said.

Kelly Flartey, of Media, was scanning the racks of Per Lei for some new clothes even though she didn't have big New Year's Eve plans.

But, she said, if she were attending a big party she would most definitely find something at Per Lei.

"They always have interesting pieces. It's not always what everyone else has," Flartey said. "They're always helpful here and genuine and nice."
