Brandywine Valley Craft Brewers Festival Returns May 19

The 12th annual installment of this spring favorite will fill the parking lot of Iron Hill and a block of State Street on Saturday to raise funds for the Media Youth Center.

About 1,200 tickets went on sale weeks ago for, and if history is any indication, the last of them will sell out completely this week.

The Brewers Festival on Saturday, May 19 will run from 1 to 5 p.m. in parking lot, and will close off that block of State Street, as well as a section of Baker Street behind Iron Hill and .

The event is scheduled to highlight American Craft Beer Week, and all proceeds go to the Media Youth Center. Since its inception, this event has raised more than $120,000 for the center. Last year alone, the event raised a whopping $22,000.

At least 20 local craft beer vendors will attend the event with their newest and best wares. This year, newcomers include Round Guys Brewing Company of Lansdale and Forest & Main Brewing Company of Ambler. Iron Hill plans to feature its Cocoa-nut, Maibock, American Brown Ale, Berliner Weiss and Pig Iron Porter as well as four beers that will only be available to their Mug Club members.

Iron Hill Mug Club members and designated drivers will also get a free voucher for the food pavillion, which features tasty selections from Iron Hill's kitchen.

The designated drviers' tent has non-alcoholic beverages and snacks for those noble attendees taking the responsible role for their friends and family.

Tickets for designated drivers are only $5. Online tickets for beer tasters are $45, or $50 at the gate - but as mentioned, don't count on any being left by the day of the event. It almost always sells out each year.

Live music from Corduroy (1 to 3 p.m.) and event perennials Lord Jive (3 to 5 p.m.) will spice up the atmosphere. Weather is expected to be nice this Saturday, although seemed to mind.
