Double Edge Sports Grille Opens in Edgmont

The new restaurant will host a grand opening on Jan. 12.

Double Edge Sports Grille, located at the former Winner's Circle in Marville Shopping Center in Edgmont Township, is open for business.

The new restaurant opened the Wednesday before Thanksgiving but will host its grand opening celebration on Jan. 12. Owner and Manager Chris Knight says they wanted to wait until after the holidays to truly celebrate the opening.

Four new owners, from both Delaware and Chester counties, took over the sports-themed bar and grille and took about three weeks to renovate and upgrade the facility.

There is new flooring and paint throughout the restaurant, the bathrooms were completely renovated, new booth seating was added but the sport's decor remains a staple with walls of flat screen TVs, sports memorabilia and a giant screen in front of the large rectangular bar.

Double Edge gets its name from being located in Edgmont Township and on the edge of Delaware County, says Knight, a Penncrest graduate.

"We were pulling our hair out trying to come up with the name and we're in Edgmont Township and right on the line of Delaware County, so Double Edge worked," Knights says.

Owner and Manager Anthony Palumbo says this is the first restaurant/bar he and Knight have opened however the other two owners, Palumbo's father and his business partner have owned and operated several bars, restaurants and a golf course in Delaware.

Palumbo, also a Penncrest graduate, says the group searched for a location for their sport's bar for about three years before finding Edgmont.

"We liked the building and the location and after looking for three years we liked this spot the best," Palumbo says.

During Double Edge's soft opening period the owners have received great customer feedback so far, he says.

"We've gotten a lot of good comments about the food and everything really," Palumbo says.

The owners are still coordinating details for the grand opening celebration but happy hour specials are expected.

As a longtime Winners Circle regular I was skeptical of the changeover. I have to say that the new owners did EVERYTHING Right! The Food is Phenomenal and they kept the right bartenders and waitstaff on board! I highly recommend Double Edge!

I disagree. A number of co-workers and I went to The Double Edge for lunch today. It was very possibly the worst meal I have ever eaten. I had the lunch special (which was a soup that tasted like dishwater and a burnt, ice cold set of sliders). It was absolutely gross. My colleagues each ordered different things, and all were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food and the taste. I never write reviews on-line, but it was so bad, I decided to comment here. In addition, the restaurant smells of wood stain or paint from there renovation a few weeks back. I would avoid this establishment at all costs!

That's a shame Dave, that you were so disappointed as I went there for lunch today and had quite the opposite experience. Perhaps you should have called a manager over if you didn't already do so. I enjoyed the lunch special, the Reuben sandwich was delicious and my wife enjoyed her hot roast beef. We shared the nachos and fried mozzarella as appetizers and they were very flavorful and the portions were bigger than we originally expected! I would definitely recommend this new place! Much better than the food at the place before it, in my opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and some people cant see a good thing In the making. I have been to Double Edge four times in the short two week period they have been open. I been very happy with the service and the change in the food. I highly recommend Double Edge to everyone for a good time, good food, great place to enjoy sporting events and ice cold beer! I would highly avoid hanging out with Dave and his colleagues because you could possibly have the worst time you have ever had. I look forward to me next visit to Double Edge.

That can't be a valid complaint ,smells like stain from renovations a few weeks ago. I guess you would rather sit in a place that smells like it hasn't been cleaned in years. I have been there twice and yes it does have a scent to it because the whole place is fresh!! I enjoyed everything we did have an issue with one of the dishes we ordered, the wings were a little too spicy for our liking however the server allowed us to get something else. All in all I will be back and would recommend this place to anyone.

I couldn't disagree more with the above post. I was extremely happy to see all the upgrades that were put into this place. I work right up the street in the corporate campus and live close by, and I wasn't a huge fan of the former restaurant. Double Edge is great! The renovations look really good...And our food was awesome! My boyfriend had a roast pork sandwich on an Italian seeded roll with roast pork and broccoli rabe. And I had baked clams that were excellent. You can't get anything like that in this area. The entire place has been upgraded...the food, the drinks, the decor. Much needed revamp! The beer selection was amazing. Greak Lakes xmas ale. I'm hooked!

It's very clear that Dave is completely out to give a great new restaurant a false, bad name. I've been there 5 times since The Double Edge opened and can honestly say there isn't a single food item I didn't highly enjoy. Whether its the baked clams, cheesesteak egg rolls, coop burger or crab cake sandwich the food has been fantastic! The place looks great. The servers are getting better and better each time I go, which is to be expected when a new place opens. I highly recommend trying the Double Edge out and don't forget to have a few craft beers to compliment the wonderful food!

Dave. A suggestion for you and your friends. Eat first then head to the Bar. I think this will change your opinion of the food 100%.
