Double Edge Sports Grille Opens in Edgmont

The new restaurant will host a grand opening on Jan. 12.

Double Edge Sports Grille, located at the former Winner's Circle in Marville Shopping Center in Edgmont Township, is open for business.

The new restaurant opened the Wednesday before Thanksgiving but will host its grand opening celebration on Jan. 12. Owner and Manager Chris Knight says they wanted to wait until after the holidays to truly celebrate the opening.

Four new owners, from both Delaware and Chester counties, took over the sports-themed bar and grille and took about three weeks to renovate and upgrade the facility.

There is new flooring and paint throughout the restaurant, the bathrooms were completely renovated, new booth seating was added but the sport's decor remains a staple with walls of flat screen TVs, sports memorabilia and a giant screen in front of the large rectangular bar.

Double Edge gets its name from being located in Edgmont Township and on the edge of Delaware County, says Knight, a Penncrest graduate.

"We were pulling our hair out trying to come up with the name and we're in Edgmont Township and right on the line of Delaware County, so Double Edge worked," Knights says.

Owner and Manager Anthony Palumbo says this is the first restaurant/bar he and Knight have opened however the other two owners, Palumbo's father and his business partner have owned and operated several bars, restaurants and a golf course in Delaware.

Palumbo, also a Penncrest graduate, says the group searched for a location for their sport's bar for about three years before finding Edgmont.

"We liked the building and the location and after looking for three years we liked this spot the best," Palumbo says.

During Double Edge's soft opening period the owners have received great customer feedback so far, he says.

"We've gotten a lot of good comments about the food and everything really," Palumbo says.

The owners are still coordinating details for the grand opening celebration but happy hour specials are expected.
