It’s Fresh From the Farm at Linvilla Orchards

Upon driving up the road to Farm Market, there’s a melody of scents wafting in the air, from the homemade pies just out of the oven, to the just-dipped caramel apples, to the warm pull-apart pizza breads, all waiting to be gobbled up.

The Farm Market, as they say at Linvilla, "is a cornucopia of nature’s best." The seasonal fruits and vegetables are perfectly picked, and the baked goods and confections are sure to satisfy the sweetest of sweet tooth. The gourmet foods make a nice gift all year round, and the prepared foods are a big help for large holiday dinners.

Nothing completes the experience better than festive decorations and seasonal greenery, which you can pick up at the new Garden Center.

Bakery

Linvilla has been baking its signature pies for more than 40 years now, and there are dozens of flavors to choose from, including Pumpkin, Dutch Apple Crumb, Mince, Chocolate Shoo-Fly, Peach Praline, and 5 Fruit Holiday, a combo of apples, blackberries, rhubarb, strawberries and raspberries. There are pies without sugar, cream pies, vegetable pies, and frozen pies you can bake at home.

Then there are the gourmet cakes in bevy of flavors, from German Chocolate to Tropical Fruit, or get a custom birthday sheet cake. Try the loaf cakes, cider donuts, cobblers, cookies, sticky buns, scones, cheesecakes or pastries. Certainly, there is no shortage of goodies.

Candy & Ice Cream

There’s a decent selection of candy, such as hand-dipped caramel and candy apples, and they make their own fudge. They have honey sticks, maple sugar candy, fruit twists, plus also carry Gertrude Hawk’s chocolates. If you’re in the mood for a scoop of ice cream, they have that too.

Fruits  & Veggies

Don’t worry, there is a huge assortment of healthy bites too.

"We raise it here, so we have fresh produce all year round," says Rob Ferber, who is Linvilla’s senior manager.

The Farm Market carries a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, like strawberries, blueberries, apricots, apples, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and of course, pumpkins.

Gourmet Products

The Farm Market specializes in Pennsylvania products, and carries more than a dozen kinds of locally produced honey, which is rumored to do more than just sweeten up a dish, says Ferber.

"We sell a lot of honey, many of which are raised on our farm. I’ve heard many times it does help with people’s allergies," he says.

They also stock Pennsylvania maple syrup, a large selection of salsas and hot sauces, and dozens of jellies, preserves, fruit butters, fruit spreads, pickles and relishes.

"We deliberately search high and low to find the most unique products that no supermarket carries," says Ferber.

Also on the shelves, homemade pastas, soup mixes, sauces, dressings, dips, snacks and baking mixes.

The gourmet foods, plus the fresh fruits, are popular items arranged together into gift baskets says Ferber. You can order at the store or online.

The store also has cider, milk, eggs and different kinds of cheeses.

Holiday Dinners

Preparing a big holiday meal can be a tremendous chore, between buying the ingredients, preparing all the dishes, serving the meal, and cleaning up. There are many courses and details to think about, but Linvilla can help. You can grab a few trays of hors d’oeuvres, like stuffed breads or vegetable trays, get a few tomato pies as appetizers, or have them cook up the majority of your meal.

"We cook a lot of fresh, local turkeys for people, and of course, our famous pies," says Ferber. "Our stuffed breads are also very popular."

Garden Center

Linvilla recently added the Greenhouse and Garden Center, where you can find all types of seasonal flowers and plants. Mums in all different colors are in season now, then look out for poinsettias and also Christmas trees. Once spring comes, you can find annuals, rose bushes, shrubs, Easter plants, Mother’s Day plants, plus gardening tools and decorations.

The Garden Center is an eco-friendly place, with special environmental displays and events, plus they offer classes throughout the year.
