Mall Property Will Look Different, New Owner Says

The new owner of the Granite Run Mall property plans to make big changes to the property.

The new owner of the Granite Run Mall tells the Delaware County Daily Times that the property will look "substantially different" than it does now.

The Granite Run Mall was sold to BET Investments Inc., which is owned by Toll Brothers cofounder Bruce Toll, for $24 million on Sept. 20.

The 57-acre property includes the mall, Acme, Kohl's, Sears Auto, AMC movie theater, and the strip of stores and restaurants along Baltimore Pike in front of the movie theater. Riddle Ale House and McDonald's are not part of the property.

BET Investments President Michael Markman plans to "substantially change" the property, making it mixed-use with a combination of residential, business and retail uses.

Standalone restaurants and an expanded movie theater complex are also visioned in the BET plan, Markman told the Delaware County Daily Times.

"It’s in our best interest to do it as soon as possible," Markman told the Delco Times. “It would look different and it would be a substantially different property than it is today."
Plans are expected to be presented to Middletown Township within the next month, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Madison Marquette will continue to management the mall at this time.
