New Frozen Yogurt Shop Opens in Edgmont

The Yogo Factory in Edgmont Township will serve its first cups of frozen yogurt on Friday.

The new, self-serve frozen yogurt shop in Edgmont Square Shopping Center is expected to open around noon on Friday, with plenty of frozen fanfare of course.

This is the second Pennsylvania location for the , which in July 2011.

Owner Brian Petruzzi said he is excited for the newest store to open despite being delayed a bit.

Petruzzi planned to but was slowed down due to a chiller machine.

The chiller is much more environmentally friendly, since it doesn't consume water or create waste, but it took longer to install than expected, he said.

But after the team's hard work, Yogo is ready to go.

The dessert shop offers 16 different yogurt flavors at a time and the flavors are constantly changing. The also offer custom flavors like Cake Batter and Reese Peanut Butter Cup.

Then of course, it's the toppings, which really make the treat complete. Yogo offers around 36 cold toppings like fruits and candies, 40 dry toppings like cereals and cookies and if that's not enough to feel your sweet tooth, there are 30 syrups and sauces to complete your order. 

Yogo offers a weigh and pay system, so you create your combination yourself and pay .49 cents per ounce.

There are now 17 Yogo Factory's and Petruzzi continues to expand. He said he is currently bringing stores to Los Angeles and throughout Philadelphia.

Petruzzi, of New Jersey, has family from the local area so he knew he wanted to expand here.

"I know the area very well and we like having the right here," he said. "We stay busy after the movies are let out.

Yogo Factory is open until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Frozen yogurt fans can expect fun treats at Friday's opening and throughout the weekend.

There will be T-shirt giveaways and your first 2-ounces of yogurt are free, all weekend long.

The colorful booths and counter seating areas aren't just to sit and enjoy your yogurt either, Yogo Factory has iPads available for the customers to enjoy.

Petruzzi said anyone can use the iPads (and the free WiFi) and post to Facebook or Twitter or upload photos of their yogurt concoction to the Yogo website.

Yogo Factory is located in Edgmont Square Shopping Center at 4752 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square. It's open from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
