Santa's Arrival, Festival of Lights Marks Beginning of Media's Christmas Season

The holiday season kicked off with Santa's arrival on State Street.

Black Friday evening brought crisp air and excitement to State Street in Media with Santa's Arrival and the Festival of Lights, a family event hosted by the Media Business Authority and

Live entertainment by Makin' Music put the crowd of a couple hundred people in the holiday spirit with Christmas songs and kid-favorite sing-a-longs. As State Street filled with kids young and old, the Philly Phanatic revved up the crowd with his dancing and hijinks.

Once the sun had fully set you could hear the sirens from the truck as it drove down State Street. Santa arrived with a fanfare of flashing lights and cheers. As the crowd counted down, Santa turned on the Christmas lights on State Street, signaling the beginning of the Christmas season. After his arrival, Santa greeted each and every child and sent them away with a smile and excitement for this coming Christmas.
