Bridge Remains Closed Due To Political Greed(s)

After hearing & seeing news coverage about New Jersey Governor Christie and the Fort Lee bridge debacle / political corruptness it - albeit on a smaller scale - makes me think of our 18 year ONGOING bridge issue here in Media/UpperProvidence.  Yes that would in fact be the closure of (West) Third Street at Broomall's Lake and Glen Providence Park.  I have wondered more oft than not if this is the way politics works locally, how is it run on a state or federal level.  Guess I got the answer!  As disgusting as it is, it ALMOST makes me not want to vote!  But that isn't going to happen nor am I going to be afraid to speak how I (AND I am NOT alone) feel.    A couple of years ago, I had a present member of Media Borough Council shake his (umm gave away the gender) finger at me and say "I ran on keeping that bridge closed!"  The only way I (did then and continue to now) can look at that is as a very selfish, and self serving motive.  It's no secret that many residents did not live anywhere near the bridge when it closed so many years ago but now do.  It's also no secret that "they" like the fact that "they" have very little traffic because of the closure.  There are some who are using the Park as their motive for keeping it closed or "compromising" to just one lane east bound off of Kirk Lane in Upper Providence to the borough.  And yes the park will lose native trees but nature has a way of making up for loss and we as stewards can and will plant something in their place for future generations to enjoy.  Already I'm repeating myself from a letter to the editor I wrote back in February (11th) of 2013 - almost a year to the day!   I will repeat how I feel it is a travesty to first responders, the Rose Tree Media School District, and the businesses of Media.  It's a further travesty that shop and office and apartment owners who own property in the borough but live elsewhere - locally in Upper Providence, Middletown and Edgmont Townships - have no voting priviledges as to who or whom "runs" the borough!  The borough has no problem taking tax monies from these owners!  Oh wait, there is the MBA (Media Business Authority) but what I've heard and read about them they are not worth the length of their organization's printed name!  A previous council liasion member was absent from a number of their meetings and their have been words of disgruntled business owners.  Am I right or is this a fabricated rumor?   Cindy Miller 981 Oak Crest Lane Media, PA  19063
