Teaching History:

Gosseaux first taught 3rd grade at St. Joseph's in Ambler for five years and then moved on to Roslyn Elementary School in Abington where she taught 4th grade for one year before leaving to be a full time mother. Then she arrived at St. Mary's as their Reading teacher.

Why did you become a teacher:

I always loved children. I was the youngest of six and much younger than them, so I actually helped take care of my sibling's children.

What do you like most about your job:

The children, especially the ones who need extra help.

What do you hope your students get out of your class:

They leave their regular classroom to come to me and we work in small groups. There's only five or six students at a time and I hope they get to relax when they come here. It's more of a relaxed atmosphere here in my classroom and we get to talk one-on-one and they love it in the small groups. All 1st and 2nd grade students come to Reading with me and then as they get older, whoever needs extra help with reading, I will see them.

If you could change anything about education overall, what would it be:

The sense of entitlement sometimes is hard to deal with. Too often we spoon feed.

What do you like best about your current school:

I love Monsignor Chieffo and the three principals I've worked with over the years have been great and easy to get along with. They listen to you if you have a problem. My youngest child is learning disabled and when I took this job here, it was like God sent for me. I didn't have a full class of students, only small groups, so I don't have a lot of homework to do, which is good because I've always had to go home to my daughter. When this job came up I thought it was terrific.
