Ebook Reader Shopping Suggestions from the Library

Libraries know books and ebook readers - learning about compatibility with the DCLS download service.

Thinking of getting an ebook reader this holiday season? Whether you’re buying the reader for yourself or as a gift, the Delaware County Library System offers free ebooks to download to many popular ebook readers.

The available books include bestsellers such as The Help and John Sandford’s, Shock Wave, along with classics and non-fiction. Thousands of books are available and can be checked-out and downloaded for two weeks. After two-weeks, they are automatically returned and other library users will have access to the book.

David Belanger, director of the Delaware County Library System, noted that, "we’ve had downloadable audiobooks for several years and added ebooks in late 2010. So far this year, use has doubled in 2010. Romance books are among the most popular downloads."

In addition to ebooks, the DCLS download library includes thousands of audiobooks. These audiobooks can be played on a computer or transferred to many MP3 players and Apple devices.
