Philadelphia Union Soccer Player Is Guest Reader for Story Time at Ridley Township Library

The Delaware County Library System (DCLS) will host Philadelphia Union soccer player Chris Albright in a guest reading at the Ridley Township Public Library on Tuesday, July 23 at 3:00 p.m. 

Albright, a defender for the Major League Soccer team that plays at PPL Park, will read one his favorite books, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.” Joining Albright will be County Council member John McBlain who will provide opening remarks and read a soccer themed book.  Lauren Longbottom, Ridley Township Library children’s librarian, will also provide stories.

After the story time, Albright will answer questions and sign copies of his READ poster, one of several celebrity “Read” posters created by DCLS to promote literacy and library use. Copies of the poster will be given to the first 50 participants.

The soccer story time is geared toward children age 3 to grade 3. The story time will be limited to 50 children and their caregivers. To register for the event, please call 610-583-0593 or e-mail Lauren at children@ridleylibrary.org.

Chris Albright plays for the Philadelphia Union at the new PPL Park in Chester. Albright is a three-time MLS All-Star and a Philadelphia native; he attended the William Penn Charter School.  Albright has won three MLS Cup titles and earned 22 caps with the U.S. Men's National Team.
