Festival of Lights Illuminates Rose Tree Park

New snowman family joins traditional displays that delight during the holidays

The toy soldiers on Candy Cane Lane welcome new neighbors to Rose Tree Park this holiday season: a festive snowman family is the latest addition to dozens of hand-painted wooden figures in the Delaware County Festival of Lights exhibit.

The annual Festival of Lights is open and all residents are invited to walk or drive through the glistening display any evening from Nov. 30 through Jan. 4.

The Festival of Lights is a local tradition that began more than 30 years ago and has grown to include over 100,000 holiday lights, most of which are now energy-saving LEDs. The new snowman family was created by former county employee and artist, Rosalie Morrall.

The Parks and Recreation Department staff members have been as busy as Santa’s elves, decorating more than 75 trees and setting up colorful displays throughout the lighted landscape, including a gingerbread house, miniature Courthouse, Santa’s sleigh, and Snoopy and the Peanuts gang.
