Saluting Air Force veterans on Sept. 11

On the somber anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Delaware County Council was honored to be joined by several generations of United States Air Force members in raising the Air Force flag at the Courthouse and Government Center. Participating in the flag-raising ceremony are, front from left, Air Force veterans Steve Macher and Roslyn Jackson, employees in the Department of Consumer Affairs and Bureau of Weights and Measures, and back row, Council Chairman Tom McGarrigle, Vice Chairman and Air Force veteran Mario J. Civera Jr., Park Policeman Charles Young, Cadet Major Albert Lee of the St. Joseph’s University Air Force ROTC program, Vietnam veteran Jim Ulmer, Criminal Investigation Detective Mark Bucci, who is a master sergeant in the Air Force, and Council members Dave White, John McBlain and Colleen Morrone. The anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Air Force is Sept. 18, 1947.
