Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, will be participating in , which is the state's largest Veterans Day parade, on Friday.
Biden is said to be arriving at Philadelphia International Airport around noon on Friday. Security is always tight when a President or Vice President come to town. So temporary road closures between the airport and Media Borough as the Bidens travel through are likely.
Although we don't have confirmation on any specific temporary road closures or a route Biden will take. One could assume Interstate 476 and maybe even Baltimore Pike would be taken.
Just expect traffic delays around noon on Friday around the airport and in Media Borough.
Biden is said to arrive at the Delaware County Courthouse around 12:30 p.m. Friday. There is no parking starting at 5:30 a.m. along Veteran's Square and Front Street and no parking starting at 10 a.m. along State and parts of Orange streets.
The parade will begin at 11:11 a.m. at State Street and Edgmont Avenue. It will stop two times for the rifle salute, and playing of "Taps" to honor fallen soldiers. Biden will be arriving as the parade is happening.
Bob Dimond, executive director of the Veterans Legacy Project, said he will introduce Dr. Jill Biden, who will briefly speak and then introduce her husband.
There will be security personnel all around downtown Media and specifically at Olive and Front streets on Friday.
Media Patch will be covering the parade and the Bidens ceremony live on Friday. We will be using the Cover It Live application where readers can see real time updates (just like we did for Hurricane Irene) and participate in the conversation themselves. So be sure to tweet, comment and upload your own photos on Media Patch on Friday. We want to hear from you.
