Curious George Gains 20 Pounds; Adoption Near

Curious George is almost ready for adoption.

Curious George, the emaciated pitbull bulldog mix, that arrived at the Delaware County SPCA weighing 35 pounds now weighs 55 pounds and is almost ready for adoption.

George has amazingly gained 20 pounds in two weeks, according to the SPCA's Director of Community Relations Justina Calgiano.

"We’re thrilled with Curious George’s progress and amazed every day at how resilient and healthy this guy is," she said.

Curious George has a full agenda in the next week or so. He needs to put on a few more pounds, get neutered, and pass a behavioral evaluation (which the SPCA is sure he'll excel in) in order to determine the type of home he will need.

Then he will be ready for adoption.

"It’s quite amazing for us to even talk about adoption, as when Curious George first arrived, his prognosis was guarded. His status was day-to-day," Calgiano said.

The SPCA will announce to the public the exact date Curious George is available for adoption, when he is ready. The non-profit will accept applications and thoroughly review and question all viable applicants so Curious George can find the best home that he absolutely deserves.
